The ‘Granny Smith’ is one of the world’s best cooking apples, originating from an Australian seedling. This variety of apple is tip bearing, with bright green skin.
The ‘Granny Smith’ apple tree is in the pollination group 4 and is therefore, classed as self-pollinating, having a nearby pollinator can increase fruit production.
It is best planted in moist, free-draining soil in full sun, although it will tolerate partial shade. A clear around the trunk of at least 60cm radius is preferred.
